Thank you so much for choosing to help VSO and follow my volunteer journey in Nepal. I am sure there are many challenges ahead but it is wonderful to know there are people at home supporting me over the coming two years. Thank you.
As a mother and grandmother, working with children and young people is of such importance to me. Providing them with a safe and secure environment in which to thrive and seeing them gain confidence and experience is wonderful. Everyone, boy or girl, deserves and education and gaining new skills is vital to beating poverty. And the skills that are picked up in school can be passed on for generations. I share with VSO the belief in sharing skills to create long lasting change for poor and marginalised communities and can’t wait to get stuck in.
For 17 years I worked as a swimming and sports teacher and have also been working with young people in the community as a mentor, role model and volunteer trainer. With the skills I’ve developed through teaching I have be able to encourage, mentor and train young lifeguards and older volunteers at the community leisure centre.
