About me

Personal Message

I’m throwing caution to the wind and am off to volunteer for VSO, training teachers in Tanzania for two years. I hope you’ll enjoy dipping in to read my blog updates and have a gander at my pictures and videos. My blog will include musings on teaching, resources and the working environment in Tanzanian schools. I am sure the next two years will be filled with challenges but also amazing experiences. Thank you so much for choosing to support VSO and for following me on my journey.

My Motivation

Throughout my career as a secondary school teacher, I’ve had the joy of watching pupils learn and succeed in London. Now I want to use my skills and experience to improve education for young people in Tanzania, by helping to train teachers. I hope that I can make a difference and improve children’s chances in life, and also that this experience will make me a better, more experienced teacher when I return home.

My Experience

In the academy school I work at in London, I have been in charge of teaching and learning on the leadership team for three years. One of my main responsibilities is to help train newly qualified teachers and work closely with universities involved in pre-service training programmes. I have also been setting up workshops for the new teachers at my school, and this is a something I hope to replicate with the teachers in Tanzania.
