About me

Personal Message

I have been overwhelmed by the level of support I have received. Thanks to the amazing kindness of friends and family I raised over £10,000 before I’d even left. And now, at the start of my placement I’ve been greeted by the incredible news that all of you will also be supporting me and following my journey. I want to do my best to make you proud, thank you so much for choosing to stand by my side in the fight against poverty.

My Motivation

Whilst studying International Education, I learnt how important teacher training is in the battle against global poverty. Several of my tutors were VSO Volunteers and they all were completely inspiring. I decided that like them, I too would join VSO and help create real and enduring change. I am so excited to get started and try my hardest to make a real difference to hundreds of children for years to come. Because that is the amazing thing about teacher training, the work you do can continue long after you have left.

My Experience

I was originally planning on volunteering in 2007, however, I was awarded a scholarship to complete my studies up to PhD. It was a hard decision, but I knew that if I continued I would be able to bring so much more knowledge to the teachers I’d train. I have also spent many years teaching and have always believed in finding innovative, new and fun ways to encourage students to get involved.
